Barber Motorsports Track (Birmingham AL)
We've got another great opportunity to drive at the Barber Motorsports track in Birmingham! You may have seen events there, but we don't often get the chance to drive it because the track rental rate is so high. We're running a joint event with the RPM Autosport Group for a day at the track. We'll have no more than 50 cars for the day (which is a fairly small group for that large a track) in either two or three run groups. Novices are welcome and there will be a special "lead-follow" time to introduce them to the track. Barber is an expensive track to rent, and the fee for FCA members' Ferraris or Maseratis is expected to be $385 per car. Other FCA member cars are $425, and non-members are $450 per car. Second drivers or guests are $20 per person. There are up to 25 spots available for Ferraris; the other spots are taken by mostly Porsches, Miatas and BMWs who are part of the RPM Group. If we have enough Ferraris, we'll have our own run group. We've run with the RPM group twice before, and both events went very well. If you'd like more info about the Barber track, Click Here and at the bottom of the page that comes up, the "Turn a Lap" link will let you see the layout and give you info about how to run it, and you can even see an in-car video of the track so you get a feel for it.

Check back soon for more details and for a downloadable registration form. You *must* sign up through FCA to get the discounted price... please do NOT sign up through AutoSport or you'll pay the full $450 per car.

For pre-reservations for this event, contact Mike Charness at 256-880-2277

After everybody gets a chance to chat and check out the cars, we embark on a nice drive in the Brentwood and Franklin area. There are some fun out-of-the-way country roads that will take us past some gorgeous properties including Alan Jacksons (very impressive) mansion.

There is the very cool Lane Motor Car Museum in Nashville that we've been wanting to visit, and this will be the perfect place to end the drive. After viewing all the unique cars, we'll break up and then re-rendezvous that evening around 6pm for dinner at the Sunset Grill. This will give all out-of-towners a chance to go back to the hotel and freshen up. JC has connections at the restaurant and can get a section of the parking lot reserved for our cars. You can see information at (www.fca-se.com/tgpr). This is perhaps the "safest" track in the area, and in the more than 10 years we've been having events there, we've never had anyone hurt and never a car damaged except for just one cracked front spoiler. If you've never been on a track with your car, this is a great place to try the experience. Also, invite your friends -- we're having a lunchtime "open session" where they can drive their own car on the track and get a taste of it for just a $20 donation to FCA.

Not only is there a new spa at the Inn for your spouse or friend, there is a pool and beach just out front. If you have not been to Lake Lure, you owe it to yourself to go! It is beautiful, and will provide a reprieve from what promises to be a hot summer. Our drive to the world famous Grove Park Inn for lunch should be terrific, and the 75 mile view from Chimney Rock is astounding. We'll cap it off with a F1 party at Dr. Ibraham's (affectionately known as Coach I- winning two NCAA Soccer Championships at Clemson) , with F1 viewing, food, and camaraderie among his Ferrari Collection. Private Test Track Charity Event (Huntsville, AL)
We have the opportunity for a special charity fund-raiser for the Make-A-Wish Foundation at a *PRIVATE* track that is going to be opened up to the Ferrari Club for the first time. This is Dunlop Tire's motorcycle test track not open to the public, just outside of Huntsville Alabama. Since it is a motorcycle test track, only one motorcycle at a time is normally on it, and the typical routing includes overlap (figure-8) so we're going to work out something different for cars, taking advantage of the tight twisties and make it a real handling challenge. We'll also have time on their skid pad in both dry AND WET conditions (if you've never been on a wet skidpad, you're in for lots of fun!). We are limited to 12-15 cars, Ferraris only, and you must be an FCA member. Fee will be $200 (all surplus after expenses go to the charity) and you can sign-up online via credit card at this link. We hope to have some of the terminally-ill children the Make-A-Wish works with brought in from the local hospitals so we can give them some rides. For details, click here to visit the discussion at FerrariChat.com or contact Mike Charness at 256.880.2277 or via email at mcharness@usa.net (and respond to the anti-spam response).
